San Antonio Wedding & Color Inspiration Boards

inspiration board_kimLast September, I wrote a blog, “Choosing colors for your wedding based on symbolism.” It ties in with this blog in the fact that I have created a new category on my website called, “Inspirations & Tools.” I created a page, Event Inspiration Boards,  where I designed wedding inspiration boards from past clients to show a wide variety of style, themes, colors and ideas that you can create for your wedding. I did talk about each of the weddings in what their inspiration was.

color_trend_navy/coral.inddAnother page I created was, “How Color Inspires“, where it ties more into this blog. I used wedding inspiration boards provided by Carlson Craft Invitations (a company I use for my own invitation services) with many color palettes. I also listed color symbolism for most of the colors and also mentioned the Pantone colors of the year. Be sure to click on the link to find out what those colors are…hint, hint.

Under “Wedding Tools“, I have several links to pdf’s where it can help you with the planning process. I do intend on adding more links to other pertinent information soon.

I know how stressful planning a wedding can be. I truly am here for you and will be there for you through it all! If you need help please contact me. I would love to learn more about you and what your dream wedding is! Trudy, 210-595-9263 or Trudy@RoyaltyEventsPlanning.com.

Here is the previous blog, “Choosing colors for your wedding based on color symbolism” from September 19, 2014.

Can’t decide on a color palette for your wedding? Why not decide on your wedding colors based on the symbolism of that color to incorporate some meaning into your wedding! Here is a list of positive connotations in helping you decide.

Red – passion, love, celebration, joy and good luck
Pink – romance, charm and tenderness
Orange – energy, vibrance, warmth, change
Yellow – happiness, cheerfulness, peace, courage, hope and faith
Blue – loyalty, fidelity, unity, peace, eternity
Green – life, nature, fertility, abundance, hope and equality
Violet/Purple – royalty, mystery, spirituality
Silver – richness, purity
Gold – life, prosperity, royalty

From Wedding Invitations by Jennifer Cegielski

I suggest you tie it together with printed signs at the reception, a note in your invitation, pictures depicting the symbolism at your wedding events, etc., to let the guests know why you chose the colors you did.

Something to keep in mind…

You can see from these inspiration boards how colors can change the entire feel and look of your wedding. Color can warm the space up to give an intimate setting or brighten the room up to give a more light and airy feel. Choosing your color combinations are important and if you are having trouble trying to decide have a wedding planner help you. As myself being a wedding coordinator/planner, I would ask important questions about what style, feeling and experience you are trying to portray with your wedding and recommend color combinations that go together. If there is a special tie to certain colors based on family customs/beliefs, special memories, etc., I would want to know that as well.

The Pantone color for 2014 is Pantone 18-3224 Radiant Orchid. Use this color for a trendy, popular look. Why not try something different? Ultimately, the colors come from the couple and what you like. Get creative!

P.S. Be sure to incorporate your colors into your invitations and all your stationery too. Currently, I am offering 10% off all orders (except Disney) and 15% off for those using my consulting services. Call me to schedule your in-person appointment.

Reflections of 2014 from San Antonio Wedding Planner

blog_headlines_2014For this post, I decided to open up more on a personal level and reflect on 2014. I would say my emotions were all over the place. I started the year off strong with my previous company, Royal Tea Princess Parties – a children’s party planning company, but knew it was time for me to pass the torch on to someone else which was a sad moment for me. I had been doing it for 9 years and it was a struggle juggling this business along with my current business, Royalty Event Parties, and my day-to-day stuff that goes on in my personal life. Let me back track just a little….

I have a 13 year old daughter who acquired brain damage from birth trauma. My life path changed the day she was born and I have done everything I can to be a strong advocate for her and be there for her day-to-day needs. I dress her, bath her, brush her teeth and hair, wipe her face and hands after each meal, & help with bathroom duties. All the little things we take for granted I do for her every day. Now that she is a teenager her hormones are high and her behaviors change all the time. She is also diagnosed with an array of other things but the top 2 are mood disorder and anxiety. I also have a son that gets frustrated at times so that can add to the stress. Just like a roller coaster, she has high/great days and also low/hard days. I am constantly working on making it better each and every day!

In June, I ended up selling my business to my old employee. It was a bitter sweet moment for me. It was hard to let it go after building it up and hosting over 900 parties! It was my baby and I wanted this company to continue on…and it has! I feel good about the decision and she is doing fantastic with it! I did this so I could focus more of my time and attention to Royalty Event Parties, my wedding consulting business.

facebook_ad_vintage_edited-1I began my invitation services in 2014 as well. I partnered up with Carlson Craft and Printswell and started 2 online storefronts. I meet with the couples one-on-one and give them the customer service they deserve in a non-pressure, relaxing environment.

I was able to attend 2 bridal shows in 2014 and loved it!! I met so many brides and helped many with their invitations and consulting needs. I helped many couples with their wedding by providing day of and full service coordinating. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE watching the couple as they see their reception all set up for the first time. All those months of planning has finally arrived and their excitement, tears, & laughter is carried into my heart. I feel so blessed to be a part of their most special day.

Also in 2014 I attended the Sandals training program and became a Certified Sandals Specialist and also went to Nassau, Bahamas to become a WeddingMoons Specialist. I have been working with couples in planning their dream honeymoon in a budget they can afford! I can also assist in destination weddings there too. In the past, I went to Mexico and toured the Palace Resorts and became trained with their wedding/honeymoon packages as well.

I am in the process of working on them right now and can’t wait to reveal them in the near future!! The season is here for proposals and new engagements. I am looking forward to talking to new couples and helping make their special day the most memorable moment of their life! Happy New Year!!! Here’s a cute proposal I found…

How to save money on your wedding invitations

The first and most important way to save money on your invitations is to purchase them through me, Royalty Event Parties (in person or through my online storefronts). I am currently offering 10% off all printing orders (except Disney), which includes invitations (engagement, bachelorette, showers, wedding, birthdays, graduations, etc.), save the dates, programs, menu cards, place cards, stickers, note cards, napkins, coasters & more! If you use my coordinating services you will receive 15% off!

Other Money Saving Tips

1. For a casual or semi-formal event you can put the reception information on the invitation instead of using a separate reception card. If it is a formal event then of course, you would want to purchase a separate reception card.

2. A popular and less expensive way of printing is thermography. Thermography will give you a raised look and feel for much less money. Carlson Craft offers raised printing as a standard option on most invitations.

3. The paper, artwork, size of invitation, added pictures or monograms, type of printing (i.e. letterpress, foil, flat, thermography), & added embellishments all add to the cost of the invitation. The simpler your design, the cheaper it will be. Carlson Craft offers a fantastic all-in-one invitation/response card postcard that is their most affordable style. I have had many budget brides, who thought they couldn’t afford Carlson Craft, pleasantly surprised when I showed them this option!

4. Don’t over purchase! Be sure to count your A & B list carefully and instead of creating a separate B list response card have the RSVP date a little earlier so you have time to mail out to the B list as you receive regrets. Be sure to stay on top of this and send out to the B list right away. Also, don’t send out extra invitations to the same household (family members).

4. Something that you may forget to think about is the postage. If you have several layers to your invitation including double lined envelopes, the response card with envelope, tissue paper, reception card, hotel/website card, &/or map card, it can get pretty pricey. You need to think about the size too. Large square invitations cost more to mail out. Use non-lined envelopes since the weight of the lining can increase the price too. One tip I also recommend is sending out postcard response cards, you can save up to 12 cents each on the stamp.

101_5509I am here to help with any kind of wedding, on a tight budget or not. I can show you a wide variety of styles and options. Tips about inviting guests to your wedding

facebook_ad_vintage_edited-1As a professional wedding consultant in San Antonio, I have some valuable invitation & guest  tips that every couple should know when planning their wedding.

1. When should I order my invitations? You need to allow ample time for the ordering process, mailing and guest response. Mailing them six to eight weeks before the wedding date is standard. However, if you have a lot of guests traveling from out of town or attending a destination wedding, ten to twelve weeks is best to give them time to make their travel plans.

2. Should I mail out extra invitations so I get the number of attendees I want? As a general rule, approximately 20 percent of the people you invite will be unable to attend. However, don’t be tempted to over invite too much over the venue capacity. You can always have a “B List” and send invitations out to them a few weeks prior to the wedding date if you do receive “No” responses early. Be sure to order extra invitations for this!

3. How do I handle the “no kids” or “and guest” situation? If you do not want children at the wedding that is perfectly fine. Just be sure to address the envelope with the parent’s names only. Never write “No Children” on the invitation. Also, be sure to have the “No Children” policy for everyone. You don’t want hurt feelings. For the “plus 1” situation…It is not mandatory that you have to include a date for single guests. If you address with just the guest’s name he/she may get the idea. However, they may call/email you asking if it would be ok to bring a date. That is a tough call. To avoid a confrontation you may want to go ahead and include the additional guest even though it means an extra dollar amount for you.

4. Who should I and shouldn’t I include on the guest list? This question is always one of the biggest issues couples deal with about their wedding. You should only invite those that you REALLY WANT TO BE AT YOUR WEDDING! Don’t invite guests when you know they won’t show just to say you invited them. Logically, the main part of your guest list will be filled with family and friends. One other group you should include is your boss and close coworkers. If you don’t have the budget to include coworkers, just invite your boss. You do not have to invite ALL coworkers but do so quietly and discretely. Again, you don’t want hurt feelings. Do not invite an Ex, even if you are on friendly terms. I don’t think your fiancé will appreciate that. Don’t feel obligated that you have to invite an old college friend to your wedding just because they invited you to theirs.

5. How do I handle the “B List” for inviting guests? If you have a lot more guests that you would like to invite but just don’t have it in the budget (or room in the venue) then be sure to mail out the invitations 8 weeks prior (give a little more time) and as you receive “Regrets” you can then mail out invitations from your “B List.” Be sure to order extra invitations for this at your initial ordering (it will be cheaper to add an extra 25 invitations with the first order instead of ordering separately later on).

Top Trends for 2014, Part Two

Last week, we took a look at five of the big trends for 2014 weddings. This week, we’ll discuss the rest of the trends that The Knot’s Laura Cave presented at the Austin Wedding Market Expo.

Modern Geometrics

royalty-geo

Going along with the fabulous Art Deco theme, we’ll also see plenty of geometric styles. This will include different shapes for table settings and unique cakes. The modern styles will also show up in finishing touches, like sugar-rimmed glasses, bright floral designs, and pop art.

Emerald Green

royalty-green

Emerald was named the Pantone Color of the Year for 2013, and the influence will continue in 2014. From Wizard of Oz themes to forest themes, expect to see lots of deep green tones in 2014 weddings.

Couture Cocktails

royalty-cocktail

The signature cocktail trend will take a high-end turn in 2014. This will include gold and silver sugar-rimmed glasses, savory cocktail flavors, and build your own cocktail bars.

Reception Lounges

royalty-lounge-area

Whether your wedding is modern, traditional, or vintage, lounge areas will be the perfect choice for 2014. Give your guests a sumptuous place to relax using drapery, tenting, pillows, and other personalized accessories.

Guest Entertainment

royalty-photobooth

This has been a growing trend over recent years, and is still going strong. Along with the entertainment ideas that have become standard for 2013, including photo booths and food trucks, look for unique ideas that are special for your big day.
