Inexpensive Venue Options for a Bridal Shower

glam_trailer_200

Contrary to common belief, there is much to it about being a bridesmaid than just holding up the trail of the bride’s wedding dress. There are many who are unaware of the fact that bridesmaids are the ones who spend for the bridal shower and her dress. This is why many bridesmaids are searching for other options on how they can make the bridal shower an inexpensive yet memorable event.

If you are planning to host a bridal shower for your friend, you will need to do it wisely so that it will not be so expensive. One way you can do this is to be careful with your bridal shower venues. Since this is mostly where the expense goes to, make sure that you look for an inexpensive option if you can.

Here are some ideas:

  • Community Center – There may be one of you that reside in an apartment complex that has its own community center. You can rent this space as a venue at a cheaper cost because of that person.
  • Condo Unit – There might be one of the bridesmaids who own or rent a posh condominium unit. You can ask if she would be amenable to using the space for the occasion. You just have to make sure that you will not be making too much of a mess. If ever, you can repay her for the time you stay there.
  • Park – There are also some public parks that serve as a venue for private parties. You can check with your local park if this is something they are okay with. However, you have to make sure that there is no upcoming storm.
  • Mobile Party Service – If you’re planning to hit the night in the city, you can rent a mobile party service instead of a hotel room. This will be less expensive for you because you do not have to pay for transportation and the room itself.

There are so many options that you can consider for an inexpensive bridal shower venue. Check our Glam to Go mobile party service for your bridal shower. 210-595-9263.

Groomsmen Duties: Are You Doing It Right?

AmyMartin_Blog0429

Last week, we discussed the duties of the bridesmaid. Now, the tables have turned and it’s time to talk about the duties of groomsmen. We felt it was only fair that we did a separate entry on each so that readers will be able to identify with each of their role in the wedding. If you have recently been chosen to be one of the groomsmen in your friend’s wedding, you will need to know what you are supposed to do.

Duties of a Groomsman:

  • Help out in assisting other guests’ travel arrangements, especially if you reside in the area where the wedding will take place. This means that if there are guests who are arriving from another city, you need to help in finding accommodation for them.
  • As a groomsman, you are generally paired with one of the bridesmaids from the bridal entourage. Make sure that you do not concentrate on just one of these women though. See to it that if you will be helping someone, you will also help the others.
  • Help in planning the bachelor party. Even though this is generally the best man’s responsibility, there’s no harm in helping a brother out right? Who knows, you just might have a really interesting night.
  • Attend all the pre-wedding events. You have a role to fill and you need to do your part. Also, you need to participate during the engagement photos.
  • You are expected to be your friend’s personal advisor and assistant throughout the duration of the engagement and wedding itself. If you are a true friend of the groom, this will be no issue for you. After all, any friend will want to help out and make sure that his friend is making the right decision.
  • On the day of the wedding, you will need to be there with your friend. This means that he does not have to worry about anything. You have to make sure that he is well rested and calm during the big day. Help him with his tuxedo too!

Wedding Success-Choosing the Right Vendors

Whatever wedding style you are planning, big or small, chances are you will need to hire at least one, if not several vendors.  Whether its a florist, cake decorator, caterer or other specialist, hiring the right person for the job is so important.  It can relieve anxiety knowing you can count on things being done correctly. And, the right vendor, can take the hum drum to the fabulous, which what you want, right?

For nearly all wedding vendors the greatest compliment they can receive is word of mouth recommendation.  That having been said be sure to ask your trusted family and friends who they used and if they would be happy to use them again.  You’ll gain a lot of knowledge this way as people love to share their experiences.

After asking around though, you’ll be much happier if you do the rest of your homework.  When you actually contact a potential vendor there is additional information you need to get before you decide to contract with them.  Here’s a partial list of things to ask:

  1. References!  Do they have some reviews on line to read?
  2. Can you see photos of previous events they have worked with?
  3. Be clear about the charges.  Are their services provided in the area of your wedding or will there be extra travel charges added on? If a deposit for services is made what arrangement is there to finish paying for services?
  4. When do their services actually start? and end? Does what they do involve any cleanup and do they provide this?
  5. This is probably THE most important tip:  Get it all in WRITING.  Don’t rely on a verbal agreement.  We are all forgetful in such a busy time.  This tip can save you hours of grief.

There is no question that to plan a wonderful time for you and your guests takes work and planning but it can all be done and still be an enjoyable time.  Here in the San Antonio area, Royal Events Parties, is here to help you coordinate all the steps and make your special day one you will have fond memories of forever.  Please give us a call at 210-595-WAND or email us at info@royaltyeventparties.com and let’s talk about your wedding.

Wedding Etiquette: Who Pays for What?

While it used to be the tradition for the bride’s family to pay for the wedding, that’s no longer the case. Figuring out who will pay for what can be an etiquette dilemma. Here’s how to approach the subject.

  • Be realistic: It’s possible to have a fabulous wedding on any size budget, and you’ll be much less stressed if you go into planning being realistic. Think about what you and your fiance can realistically spend yourselves and work within that figure.
  • Be grateful: When you announce your engagement, your families might offer to pay for specific parts of your wedding. Don’t take this for granted, and be thankful. It might mean relinquishing control over part of the planning, so decide which is more important to you — the help paying or the control.
  • When in doubt, ask: If you aren’t sure whether your family has money set aside for your big day, ask them. It’s far better to have one slightly awkward conversation before you start planning than to find yourself in huge amounts of debt because you didn’t.

Whether you’re paying for your wedding or it’s a group effort, working with a wedding planner can help you save money. To find out more about how I can help plan your San Antonio wedding, give me a call today (210-595-9263) or get in touch through my website!

Wedding Bouquet Trends

Your bridal bouquet is such an important part of your wedding day, and there are so many great trends to use for your big day! Choosing the right wedding flowers can also help make your wedding theme really come together.

  • Rustic Elegance: For a rustic wedding, think beyond loose bouquets of wildflowers. A bouquet of sunflowers and baby’s breath can give a delicate yet bold look that is perfect for a rustic themed wedding. You could wrap the bottom  in burlap and add a brooch or pearls for that elegant touch.royalty-cascade
  • Statement Cascade: Forget the tight nosegay or round bouquet and make a statement with a cascade bouquet. This year’s big trend will take the cascade to the next level, adding long trailing vines of flowers. This adds flow and makes a big style impact, too.royalty-basket
  • Baskets: A bouquet truly becomes an accessory with this trend. Have your bridal party carry flowers in a basket rather than tied into a traditional bouquet. This gives a beautiful twist on things, and can be used for unusual flowers, too.royalty-succulents
  • Succulents: Choosing succulents in lieu of flowers has been a big trend in 2013, and will continue to be big for 2014. This is an eco-friendly choice, and you can replant them after your wedding.
